The Basics: How to compression test your engine

Performing a compression test sounds very scary, but in reality it's as simple as following three steps. If you've ever changed your spark plugs (we held that class in 2025) then you're halfway there already!

In this hands-on class we'll take you through the full process of performing a full compression and leakdown test to determine the health of an engine and how to tell whether it is time for a rebuild.

Break out your drawing pad & pencil, because we're hosting another Cars & Art Sketch Night! Come join us for a fun evening of creativity & socializing at The Wanderwell Society's Venice Workshop!

Our hosts are Spiderverse and Marvel artist Cynthia Halley (@cynthiahalleyart), and automotive artist and designer Omar Rehman (@youknowitsomar). This is an un-instructed draw-along, but these (lovely) two experts will be on hand to doodle and encourage.

Whether you're a seasoned artist or just looking to try something new, this event is perfect for everyone.

So Grab a drink, relax, and unleash your inner artist by sketching a car or two. No experience necessary, just bring a pen or pencil, good attitude, and a chair if you have one!

Natural History Museum Pop-up

All year, the Los Angeles Natural History Museum has been hosting an online series celebrating the diversity of Los Angeles and its people through the lens of creative modes of transportation. To celebrate this year-long virtual exhibit, the museum is holding an L.A. on Wheels Day on November 22, 2025.

In addition to a car show, displays of various modes of mobility (bicycles, motorcycles, scooters, skates etc), and family-friendly activities, Wanderwell will be there! We'll be setting up a booth and demonstrating our DIY ways with a hands-on headlight restoration demonstration and swag giveaways.

Come visit us, check out the other exhibitors, and enjoy a day at the museum. It's a perfect Saturday morning.

The Basics: Learn How To Paint Correct

You’ve mastered the basics of a proper car wash—now it’s time to level up. This class at Wanderwell is all about paint correction: what it is, why it matters, and how to do it the right way.

Whether you’ve got light swirls in your clear coat or you’ve always wanted to learn how to use a polisher without fear, this beginner-friendly workshop will walk you through:

  • The science of paint correction — how it works and when it’s needed

  • Prepping your paint — what to check before you start

  • Correcting techniques — the do’s, don’ts, and how to avoid costly mistakes

  • Tools & products — polish vs. compound, foam vs. microfiber, and everything in between

This isn’t a concourse-level course—we’re keeping it approachable, practical, and hands-on. You’ll leave with the confidence to tackle paint correction on your own car, and for Wanderwell members, this class also means you’ll know exactly how to use our shop’s correction tools anytime you need them.

Whether you’re a member or just dropping in, you’ll walk away with skills that make your car look like new.

Death Valley Camping Trip

Pack your rig and join us for a 3-day, 2-night off-road and camping trip through Death Valley, led by Wanderwell founding member Read.

This member-only adventure is limited to just 5 cars, so it’ll be an intimate run into one of the most rugged and beautiful landscapes in California. Expect epic desert trails, remote camping under the stars, and plenty of time around the fire with your fellow members.

This trip is free for Wanderwell members, but spots are extremely limited—first come, first served.

If you’re ready to test your rig, sharpen your off-road skills, and make some memories in the desert, this is your chance.

Your doctor called - you need some exercise.

So join us on Sunday for some fresh air, an old-fashioned sweat, and traveling around LA without being stuck in traffic. Imagine that.

Led by Wanderwell member Moises, we're taking a leisurely pedal along the Ballona Creek bike path from the Workshop to Culver City and back. Whether you're a cleat master or haven't been on your bike in years, this group ride is for you. This is more pedalling and chatting than Strava record run.

Ever wanted to learn how to weld but didn’t know where to start? This class is for you. We’re creating a relaxed, supportive space where you can get hands-on with MIG welding and build confidence working with steel.

No prior experience? No problem. This beginner-friendly workshop is open to the public, and we’ll guide you through the fundamentals—safely, step by step. As a bonus, you’ll get to turn a real Porsche tow hook into a custom bottle opener and take it home with you.

Hidden Gems Rally

Join us for the 2025 Los Angeles Hidden Gems Rally!

We’re hitting the road to explore historic landmarks, secret canyon routes, and cultural icons that prove L.A. really is the greatest city on Earth. Oh—and there will be donuts. Obviously.

We’ll kick things off where legends are made: The Donut Man on old Route 66 in Glendora. After a proper sugar-fueled sendoff, we’ll cruise through charming towns and scenic neighborhoods on our way to Carbon Canyon Coffee Company—a cozy hideaway that’s a gearhead’s dream.

Next stop: the breathtaking Hsi Lai Temple for a truly one-of-a-kind sightseeing experience. With spirits recharged, we’ll dive into one of Los Angeles’ most hidden and exhilarating driving roads—exact location? You’ll just have to come and find out.

We’ll wrap it all up with a well-earned lunch on Whittier’s walkable restaurant row—good food, great company, and maybe even a few new favorite roads.
